“I Die” by Nadjah Hasan

Today I am alive

But yesterday I could’ve died

In life they say take it all with a grain of salt but what if that alone can cost you your life

I am blind

and I can see

Knowing of nothing but peace and I died

On the inside

Not capable of unraveling the Trauma wrapping my bones

not alone but definitely alone

How can it possibly be that you can see what I see

These eyes

That through these eyes

Real life

Can be seen

They say I die

But I decide

Guided by light and love

Toward the light

Heal me of the lies

Placed in my mind

I didn’t get to decide

But today I decide

I take hold of my life

Don’t tell me that you know what’s best for me

When I’m reaching back to bring you

Come with

Only love on this trip

Blue skies maybe even purple and shit

They killed me

But I’m standing in front of you

I rise.
