Obsidian by Marika Holbus

Do you care to know who you are?

Will you indulge the stars in your belly?

Most people think they’ve seen it all,

but I know better. I’m ready.

I’ve seen all of God’s plans,

and they’re not according to man.

Take your Bible and call me a rebel,

but I refuse to settle.

Get to know your inner workings.

Watch those grinding gears.

Your crystal ball is black,

but it was once a spear.

Getting down to your core

isn’t the easiest journey.

But keep the doors ajar,

you don’t have to leave in a hurry.

When frowns turn into smiles

and all of us are singing,

God is toe-tapping

and listening.

All of us have voices.

Let’s make the most of them.

Even in worlds far apart

and lives in various skins,

we are all brothers and sisters.

You’ve always felt like kin.
